Against Recession – Hype

Are you sick of hearing about the recession? Did you lose your job because your company wanted to save money or lost work because a client wanted to save money? Join the rest of the globe. The so called “recession” is just a buzz word spun to us by the media that we absorb on a daily basis. I for one, am tired of listening to the media negatively spin and deliver economic reports to me.

Consider this
Gas has been cheaper in the last 3 months than it has been in over 2 years!
Produce sales haven’t escalated beyond normal scale
Inflation hasn’t risen dramatically

So what really is the source of this recession?! It’s all negative media. Like I said, recession has become a buzzword.

Let’s face it, people tend to be negative. What do you search for on youtube when you’re bored? I bet it’s not world causes or positive messages and uplifting words. No, you’re probably looking up worst car crashes, fights, celebrities at their worst, etc. This is what people want.. drama, and the media has fed us exactly what we’ve been craving for years.

But we’ve had too much…

People are getting sick of hearing the word recession. Business and families are being dramatically influenced and people are hurting. The only way to get rid of the recession is to reverse our thinking. Our thinking towards spending, and what we soak in from the media on a daily basis.

I’m making an effort to stand for something greater than myself.. will you join me?

  • I'm so glad that you posted this!! I've been saying this for months but my "the sky is falling" co-workers disagree with my and have been worked up into a froth over this..pure foolishness.
  • Hey, I agree with you..People really need to get in control of their liabilities(spending).
  • Ahh, very true, you make a great point. Yes, i think that the recession is majorly due to credit and virtual spending. I think that what triggered the credit companies to fail though was all because of a scare.. a domino effect if you will.. basically there were many things loosely structured and managed at the top (being credit agencies) and as small businesses and people began to talk about the recession at the bottom, spending began to cut back, causing small businesses to suffer first and cut back on employment, which then exponentially grew as it climbed up the financial ladder, until hitting the top businesses the hardest.

    Then again, I'm no expert.

I agree, but isn't it true that the reason the economic "dip" is so huge is because people were spending money that they didn't have in the first place? So many people used their credit to get and spend huge sums of money on cars, expensive luxury items, and other things and then couldn't pay back what they "borrowed." I agree this is not the only reason, but I believe this is a huge contributor. You're right in the fact that if the attitude of the country changes, we can do great things.
