I think that what triggered the credit companies to fail though was all because of a scare.. a domino effect if you will.. basically there were many things loosely structured and managed at the top (being credit agencies) and as small businesses and people began to talk about the recession at the bottom, spending began to cut back, causing small businesses to suffer first and cut back on employment, which then exponentially grew as it climbed up the financial ladder, until hitting the top businesses the hardest.
